Little Greektown and Gyros

Toronto is full of Littles.  There's Little Italy, Little India, Little Pakistan, Little Jamaica as well as Koreatown, Chinatown and every other type imaginable.  I think we went to a Polishtown at one point.  Lots of foods and cultures come together and it's fantastic if you enjoy different kinds of food.  I had Japanese, Korean, Greek, and Indian food in the short time I was in Toronto.  This is a few of the photos from our Greektown adventure and Indian food.

(A church we passed on our way to Greek town)

(The place we stopped for a 'snack')

(A little lady we passed on the way)

(Hiroko posing)

(It was also a meat market)

(This was inside Louis', a place we got a recommendation for)

(Hiroko as she eats her gyro which the woman told us is pronounced 'hero')

(Here's where the meat came from)

 (Me stuffing my face)

(I got the lamb and it had lettuce, tomatoes, french fries and a special sauce which was tasty)

(This was the lady working and she was fantastic)

(Passed this little cafe on our walk)

(Definitely in Little Greektown)

(Another church we passed in Greektown)

(As an English/ESL teacher, I loved this sign)

(Back in Koreatown)

(There's a little Korean Cuisine)

(Hiroko and Joe at the Indian restaurant)

(Chicken Butter, Chick Peas, and Palak Paneer - Joe ordered medium which was some of the hottest Indian food I've ever eaten.  Hiroko couldn't eat it and at times, Joe's eyes were watering.  I could handle it and towards the end, actually taste a little of the flavor, but it was hot!)

(We finished the day with dinner at Hiroko's host family's place.  Dave and Barb are great people and we had some delicious pasta, even though we had already eaten 2 meals since noon...)
